Welcome to our Winter/Spring Newsletter for 2019

 

 We hope you all had a lovely happy New Year!!!

 During the next weeks we will have cold temperatures, so it is important that you stay warm. To help you keep warm please turn the heating on, and shut your windows in the evenings to keep the warmth in. Keep plenty of warm blankets, clothes and drinks to hand. Please keep up to date with the latest weather forecast.

 

Long Service Awards

Joy and Amanda were awarded the five years long service award. We say congratulations and a big thank you for being wonderful in the community.

 

Compliments Slips

Please continue to send in your compliments so we can pass your kind words on to our members of staff who continue to do amazingly in the community. This can be done via return slips, telephone calls or emails.


Changing/Cancelling Calls/ Extra Calls

If you should need to change or cancel a call time for any reason, please give as much notice as possible, especially if you need an earlier call in the morning. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee we can accommodate your request, but the more notice you can give, the more likely it will be that we can meet your requirements.

Calls that are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are still chargeable, so please give as much notice as possible to avoid this. This applies to all Service Users, including those on Portsmouth City Council Contracts.

If you require an extra call or sitting service and you are on a Portsmouth City Council or Private Direct Payment contract, you will need to speak to your Social Worker or the Carer’s Centre to get them authorised, and they will contact us on your behalf to arrange it. Assured Care has no authority to add extra calls or visits on to these contracts, unless you are happy to pay privately for them.

Valentine's Day and Easter

As the Easter holidays are approaching we would like to remind you of our gift policies in accordance with Portsmouth City Council. Please do not give gifts or offer money to our members of staff as they will have to refuse, and they do not wish to offend you.

 

On-Call Service

Our normal office hours are 8:30-17:00 Monday to Friday. Outside of these hours Assured Care operates a 24-hour messaging service.  These messages are checked regularly by the office member on-call. This service is for emergencies only (not 111 or 999 emergencies). When a Care Worker is more than half hour late, please let the office team know and we will get a Carer to you as soon as possible. Anything that is not an emergency will be dealt with the following working day.

 

Infection Control

 It is that time of year when infections including Norovirus are out in force. If you notice a Carer not wearing gloves or an apron, please ask them to put these on as they should be wearing them.

If you have an infection yourself or any queries regarding an infection of somebody else, please let the office know. We are happy to help.

6 Monthly Questionnaire

We would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who took the time to complete our six-monthly questionnaire and sent them back. The information we collect helps us to improve quality care provided to all our Service Users and gives the staff a better knowledge and understanding of the Service Users they care for. Attached with this newsletter is a copy of the questionnaire analysis for your information.

Relatives and Friends Support Group

You are all welcome to join our Relative and Friends Support Group run by our sister company St Ronans Care Home. The group meets about every 3 months. If you would like to talk to Andrea their Quality Assurance  Manager, you can contact her on 023 9275 2910
