Season’s greetings to you all and welcome to our quarterly newsletter. We hope you are all staying safe and well in these difficult times. Our office team are here to reassure if you have any worries whatsoever, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Let’s open by introducing our new team members. Elena and Jemma are our new Care Support Workers and they are settling in wonderfully. Join us in making them feel welcome when they come by to carry out your care call.

General Information and Reminders

Sometimes we have to move/change the times of your visits or the carer that is coming to see you. We appreciate that this can be less than ideal and you may want to know why this is happening. Unfortunately, we can not always give you an answer due to GDPR and Data protection laws. We will always do our best to keep you informed of the changes, even if we cannot tell you why they are happening.

At present most of our communication is still going out by post. This can take a long time to reach you, especially with lockdowns and Christmas post causing delays. It is much quicker if we are able to email you. We want to be able to send you any updates on government guidelines/advice with regards to the pandemic and weather warnings instantly.  If you can email the office at info@assuredcareportsmouth.co.uk and let us know your email address so we can update our records, we would really appreciate it.

Some key COVID-19 related points we would like to remind you of:

  • Coronavirus rates within the city are increasing drastically. Please be careful, follow the government guidelines and social distancing measures. If you are need some guidance please get in touch with the office.
  • If you or someone in your household develop symptoms of COIVID-19, please inform the office straight away, get a test booked (the office can help you with this if you need some assistance) and follow the latest government guidance on self-isolating. If you are unsure of anything, please give the office a call.
  • The government are making progress with vaccines which are on the way once testing etc has been completed, so this won’t be forever
  • If you see any of our carers not wearing appropriate PPE (masks, gloves/aprons) please let the office know. Our carers should be wearing masks at all times when visiting you. We want to keep you and our staff safe and wearing PPE is essential. If you are unclear about which PPE a carer should be wearing, you can contact the office for clarification.
  • Staff cannot eat or drink in any Service User’s homes, as this would require them to remove their mask. Please report any instances of this to the office.

Christmas is almost here! A few reminders for this time of year.

All care will go ahead as per normal this includes Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. If you would like to make any cancellations over the Christmas period, please get in touch with office and let us know with as much notice as possible. We are also available to cover extra visits should you require it, just ask a member of the office team.

A gentle reminder that we appreciate your gratitude at this time of year, but all of our staff are unable to accept any gifts or gratuities. Our carers don’t wish to offend you by refusing anything, but our policies and procedures means they have to.

The Office will have slightly varied office hours over Christmas. These will be sent out shortly. However, the on-call service remains in operation whenever the office is closed.

Some local schools have offered to write Christmas cards to the community. Would you like to receive one? Please let us know.

As we have already said, this can be a lonely time of year, only made more so by the current pandemic. Have you any ideas for combatting loneliness in your home and the community? Here are a couple of things we at Assured Care can do to help:

If you would like to video call/facetime a family member or relative and would like some help with this, our staff are more than happy to help. Call the office and we can arrange for a carer to be present to help you facilitate this. It can be a very lonely time of year, especially with the pandemic and we would love to help you stay in touch with loved ones.

We are speaking to other Care providers in the community and asking if any of their Service Users would like a pen pal. Are you interested in becoming a pen pal? Let Lee-Anne in the office know.

If you have any ideas of your own, please get in touch, we would love to hear them.

Feedback to us is always useful. We love to receive compliments and pass them on to the staff, it really makes their day. If you think there is somewhere we can improve our service, please get in touch and let us know. We are more than happy to listen to your views and improve our service. You feedback makes all the difference.
