Spring 2018


Welcome to our Spring Newsletter for 2018. We look forward to continuing to provide you with all the support you need throughout 2018.


Spring is now here, the sun is starting to shine and the evenings are getting lighter.

With warmer weather approaching, it is important to stay hydrated so ensure that you are drinking enough fluids and that carers are leaving your drinks within reach if you have mobility issues. Please look after yourselves, open windows if your home is getting to warm to let some air in, and close them when it gets too cool. Ensure you dress appropriately for the weather and use sun screen if going out and about in the sunshine.

As always, we all should keep up to date with weather warnings from the Met Office. All our care staff are informed when a weather warning has been issued so they can inform our Services Users when necessary.  If you have any concerns regarding weather warnings please do not hesitate to give us a call.



Our Team

Sally has joined us as a Care Support Worker. You may have already met her out and about in the community.  

Jazmine is now enjoying her maternity leave. We also say good bye to Maria and Rochelle. We wish them all the best.



6 Monthly Questionnaire

It is time to send out our six monthly questionnaires again. We have made some changes to the questionnaire. We would very grateful for your time in completing and sending them back via the prepaid envelope included.


Compliments Slips

Please continue to complete compliment slips when we send them out, or let us know via telephone whenever you have a compliment about any member of staff or our service. It really boosts staff moral when they hear good feedback from the Services Users they visit.


Changing/Cancelling Calls/ Extra Calls

If you should need to change or cancel a call time for any reason, please give as much notice as possible, especially if you need an earlier call in the morning. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee we can accommodate your request, but the more notice you can give, the more likely it will be that we can meet your requirements.

Calls that are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are still chargeable, so please give as much notice as possible to avoid this. This applies to all Service Users, including those on Portsmouth City Council Contracts.

If you require an extra call or sitting service and you are on a Portsmouth City Council, PCT or Private Direct Payment contract, you will need to speak to your Social Worker or the Carer’s Centre to get them authorised, and they will contact us on your behalf to arrange it. Assured Care has no authority to add extra calls or visits on to these contracts, unless you are happy to pay privately for them.


On-Call Service

Our normal office hours are 8:30-17:00 Monday to Friday. Outside of these hours Assured Care operates a 24 hour messaging service.  These messages are checked regularly by the office member on-call. This service is for emergencies only (not 111 or 999 emergencies). Anything that is not an emergency will be dealt with the following working day.


Infection Control

If you notice a carer not wearing gloves or an apron, please feel free to ask them to put these on as they should be wearing them. Also, contact the office and report anyone not wearing their gloves and aprons. If you have an infection yourself or any queries regarding an infection of somebody else, please let the office know. We are happy to help.

Relatives and Friends Support Group

You are all welcome to join our Relative and Friends Support Group run by our sister company St Ronans Care Home. The group meets about every 3 months. If you would like to talk to Trixie our Quality of Life Support Worker, you can contact her on either:  023 9275 2910 or 023 9273 3359.
